FAQ Data science

English

1. What skills does it need to train AI algorithms?

To everyone’s surprise, coding is not one of them. Tools like KNIME make it fairly simple to create your own AI models. You definitely need knowledge in the field where you want to deploy the model, for example, engineering knowledge for process industries—besides a basic understanding of the most common AI models used.

2. How do you know if you got the right data to train a model?

It is important to remember that the AI model only detects what it has been trained to discover. That is why failure data should be available as well as normal functioning data. Good practice is to split data into training and validation sets, or even training, validation, and control set.

3. How do you handle the deployment of AI models on a network isolated critical assets?

For critical assets, not only physical safety but also digital safety is priority number one. That is why these assets are commonly found on isolated networks. AI models should be embedded into the device or on an edge computer running close to the asset. APM Studios can do both. Furthermore, UReason implements AI models with a PMML script which keeps the isolation of the asset intact. Any outward communication is then done over a safe OPC UA connection.
